UTICA, NY – A Utica woman was charged after she fled the scene of a crash involving her vehicle and a pedestrian on May 3rd. Utica Police officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Rutger Street regarding a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.

“It was learned that a maroon vehicle struck a male pedestrian who was crossing the street and subsequently fled the scene following the collision,” Utica police said. “Thankfully an uninvolved party who had witnessed the collision was able to secure a photograph of the license plate of the suspect vehicle prior to it speeding away.”

Police, through an investigation, learned that Brittany Morris age 28, of Utica, was the driver of the vehicle. She was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious physical injury, a class E felony in New York.

“The victim is still currently ICU with serious injuries and his condition is being monitored regularly,” Utica police reported today.
