Driveby Shooter in Stolen BMW Sought by Newark Police

NEWARK, NJ – A man who stole a black 2005 BMW out of Kearney in April, then used it in a driveby shooting in Newark that injured three people last week is being sought by the Newark Police Department.

Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara today asked for the public’s help with identifying the suspect wanted in connection with the May 4, incident.

“The incident, which is under investigation by the Major Crimes Shooting Response Team, occurred around 5:50 p.m. when a vehicle traveling northbound on Irvine Turner Boulevard was struck by several gunshots fired from a black 2005 BMW stolen in Kearney on April 20, 2022,” O’Hara said.


The vehicle has since been recovered and the victims were transported to University Hospital and are reportedly in stable condition.
