Blaszka Hurls Toms River South to Ocean County Championship with No-Hitter

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Toms River High School South came out on top of a 1-0 pitchers’ duel against Southern Regional to win the 2022 Ocean County Tournament. Led by a no-hitter by senior Janelle Blaskza, who struck out 9 batters in 7 innings, South was able to get 1 run in the top of the 5th inning with a run-scoring double by Chloe Seluchins.

Blaskza was named Tournament MVP. She will be playing Division II college softball for CACC Champions Georgian Court next year.

Izzy LaPerry went 2 for 3 in the game. Abby Wilber had two stolen bases. . In the circle for Southern, Claire Gosse pitched 7 innings, giving up just one run and one hit, striking out 4.

On Monday, South will travel to Red Bank to compete in the second round of the Shore Conference Tournament against Red Bank Catholic. On Tuesday, they will begin play in the NJSIAA Group 3 South State tournament against Ocean City at home.
