Suspect with Loaded Ghost Gun Fled Police, Arrested

UTICA, NY – After police in Utica received reports of a man with a gun were reported at around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, police officers responded to the intersection of Albany Street and Kossuth Avenue regarding a male in possession of a handgun.

“As the first units arrived they located a male matching the description exiting the convenience store at the above intersection,” UPD said. “As they attempted to stop the party, he grabbed onto his waistband and fled on foot from the officers. During the course of the pursuit, the male discarded a handgun and was apprehended a short distance away.”

Desmond Anthony age 36 of Utica was taken into custody without incident. Additionally, while searching the suspect the officers located a plastic baggie with a substance consistent with crack cocaine in his pocket. Following the arrest he was transported to the Utica Police Department for processing.


Upon inspection of the weapon it was learned to be a loaded 9mm “Ghost Gun”
