Two Charged for Weekend Murder in Camden

Camden, N.J. – Two men have been arrested and charged for the weekend murder if 18-year-old Yahmir Catoe in Camden. According to police Mihkael Greene, 19, and Nysar Streater, 21, both of Camden, were charged on Sunday, May with first-degree felony murder in connection to the fatal shooting.

“On Saturday, May 14, 2022, at approximately 10:19 a.m., officers from the Camden County Police Department responded to the area of the 1000 block of Lakeshore Drive in Camden in reference to multiple 911 calls regarding a shooting,” the Camden County Police Department said. “Upon arrival, officers located Catoe lying on the ground in a nearby park suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 4:22 p.m.”

During the investigation, detectives determined that Greene and Streater were attempting to rob Catoe when Greene fatally shot Catoe.  Streater, who was physically restraining the victim, was also shot in the hand by Greene during the robbery.


A CCPD statement said Streater was treated at Cooper University Hospital and taken into custody at the hospital on Saturday.  Greene was taken into custody in Camden at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15 by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division and the Camden County Police Department.
