School Buses Involved in Crash that Shut Down Route 9 in Howell

HOWELL TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Howell Township Police department reported this morning that two school buses were involved in a serious crash in the area of Route 9 and Friendship Road. Southbound traffic on Route 9 was shut down while police investigated the scene. Route 9 south traffic was diverted onto Friendship Rd to Church Road during the investigation.

“Route 9 south will be closed for an extended period for the investigation. There were no children on the school buses involved. Two people were injured and taken to hospitals. Please avoid the area at this time; we will advise when the roadway is clear,” the department said in a statement this morning.
