Suspect Charged for Morning Murder of Woman in Camden

Camden, NJ– Police in Camden announced they had arrested a suspect wanted for the murder of a 37-year-old woman in Camden. Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez said at 11:06 a.m., units from the Camden County Police Department responded to 235 Eutaw Street in Camden where they located 37-year-old Nicole Carr who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and a 61-year-old man who had been assaulted.

Police said Ms. Carr was transported to Cooper University Hospital where she was pronounced deceased that afternoon.

According to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, on Friday,U.S. Marshals from the N.Y./N.J. Regional Fugitive Task Force-Camden Division contacted homicide detectives and reported that Marquis Fletcher, 36, had made contact with them and wished to surrender himself to authorities. 


“At approximately 8:24 a.m. Fletcher was taken into custod,” Prosecutor MacAuley said. “Uniformed members of the Camden County Metro Police Department transported Fletcher to the Camden County Metro Police Administration Building for processing.”

Fletcher is currently lodged at the Camden County Correctional Facility.
