DOJ Press

Philadelphia, PA – Members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task
Force arrested Ajani Uhuru, 23, for murder, at approximately 2:30 p.m.
on May 23rd in the 5400 block of Wissahickon Avenue, Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. Uhuru was wanted for murder in relation to a shooting
which occurred May 19th, at the Penn Jersey Food Mart in Sunbury
Pennsylvania. A homicide warrant was issued for Uhuru on May 20th, and
the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of
Pennsylvania was delegated the fugitive investigation.
Early this morning, Deputy Marshals in
Philadelphia received information Uhuru may be hiding with an associate,
Daimeer Clark, 22, in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. Clark was
wanted for a firearms related warrant issued May 18th, 2022, by the
Williamsport Bureau Police Department. On May 23rd, Marshals discovered
an apartment associated to Clark in the 5400 block of Wissahickon Avenue
in Philadelphia. Upon entering the apartment, Clark surrendered to
investigators without incident. However, Uhuru barricaded himself in a
bedroom for an hour before Marshals negotiated his surrender. During the
arrest, two firearms were recovered. Both Uhuru and Clark were then
transported back to Northumberland and Lycoming County by Task Force
Officers.
This was a joint investigation involving the U.S.
Marshals Fugitive Task Forces in Eastern and Middle Pennsylvania, the
Sunbury Police Department and the Williamsport Police Department. Robert
Clark, Task Force Supervisor for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania,
said “The U.S. Marshals Service has once again proven why we are the
very best at locating people who do not wish to be found. I am very glad
we were able to assist our partners from the Middle District of
Pennsylvania”. The Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive
Task Force is a team of law enforcement officers led by U.S. Marshals in
Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. The task force’s objective is
to seek out and arrest violent crime fugitives. Please see
