Heightened Police Presence Expected at Cumberland County Schools

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, NJ – The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office today announced a countywide coordination to increase school security will take place at schools on Wednesday.

“We’ve directed our law enforcement partners to have a visible presence at our schools throughout the county in the coming days in response to the school shooting today in Texas,” the prosecutor’s office spokesman said in a statement last night. “While we offer thoughts and prayers to those affected, we urge everyone to take part in the discussion necessary to make sure that our children don’t have to continue to live in a world plagued by gun violence in the form of mass shootings. Thoughts and prayers are welcome, but it will take hard work to flesh out real solutions to address the multiple reasons why people become mass shooters and to prevent future carnage.”

The CCPO asks residents to remain alert and vigilant. If you see someone acting strangely and you know they have access to firearms, don’t be afraid to report it to your local police department.
