Pittsburgh Police Engage in Shootout With Suspected Gunman

PITTSBURGH, PA – Pittsburgh police officers returned fire after a suspected gunman shot at them overnight. Police responded to multiple Shotspotter alerts for the 7100 block of Hamilton Avenue around 2:40 a.m.

Responding Zone 5 officers met with a witness who observed the suspect firing shots. Officers located the shooter on Hamilton Avenue. The suspect fired at police, and the officer returned fire. Both the officer and suspect were not injured. The suspect was taken into custody near Hamilton and N. Lang avenues.
