BEACHWOOD, NJ – The flashing light at the intersection of Birch Street and Beachwood Boulevard will be switching over to a multi-way stop intersection on or about June 2nd, according to Chief of Police Glen A. DeMarco.
DeMarco notified residents tonight of the new traffic pattern to take effect this wee and thanked local municipal departments for making it happen.
“The Beachwood Police Department would like to inform our residents that on or about June 2nd, the intersection of Beachwood Blvd & Birch Street will be converted to a multi-way stop. Please use caution and be alert to this new traffic pattern,” Chief DeMarco said tonight. “I would like to thank our department’s Traffic Safety Unit, led by Sgt. Dennis Allen for their diligent work. Many hours were dedicated to researching statistical information and initiating a request to the Ocean County Engineering Office for the purpose of making improvements to the intersection.”
According to DeMarco, based on the statistics provided to include the volume and severity of the accidents that occur at this specific intersection, a change was deemed to be warranted by the Ocean County Engineer. Ocean County Engineering has designed and will be installing a multi-way stop at the intersection on or about June 2nd.
