Utica Woman Arrested for Burglary, Spitting on Cop

UTICA, NY – A Utica woman caught breaking and entering in a residence in the city has been arrested for burglary after spitting in a responding police officer’s face.

According to the Utica Police Department, On Sunday, at approximately midnight Utica Police units were dispatched to the 700 block of Lansing Street regarding a burglary in progress call.

“Information was relayed that as the victim returned home, they that their rear door had been forcibly opened. As they entered into the residence, they located a female who was familiar to them going through their bedroom drawers,” Utica Police said in a statement. “The suspect was still on scene at the time of the officer’s arrival and upon attempting to detain her, she began to flail her arms in an effort to prevent handcuffs from being applied, and then spit in the officer’s face. She was then detained without further incident.”


Through a further interview with the victim it was also learned that the suspect had rifled through a wallet and placed stolen items into a bag for removal.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Marilu Vizcarrondo age 53 of Utica was charged with burglary, larceny, and harassment.
