EVESHAM, NJ – Evesham police have announced the arrest of Marcus Gans, age 43, of Clementon for a smash and grab burglary that occurred early Tuesday morning.

According to police, at around 12:27 AM, officers responded to an activated burglar alarm at Kings Grant Liquor, 137 Merchants Way. Simultaneously, an alert witness called 911 to report a suspicious vehicle and two suspicious males in the nearby area of the liquor store.

“The witness was able to obtain the license plate of the vehicle and supplied that information to the arriving officers,” police said. “The on scene investigation determined that two males had made forced entry to the front of the store by shattering the glass door with a hammer. Once inside, the two suspects stole various bottles of liquor, cigarettes, and lottery tickets.”

The officers on the scene quickly supplied the suspect vehicle information to all the surrounding jurisdictions.

“At approximately 5:00 AM, an alert Gloucester Township officer located the suspect vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop. As a result of that stop, Marcus Gans was identified as a possible suspect and additional information and evidence led to Gans being arrested for his involvement in the burglary of Kings Grant Liquor. Gans was charged accordingly and released on his own recognizance with a mandatory court appearance,” police said.
