Cumberland Crime Report – June 2-3

The following incidents have been reported by the Cumberland Police Department on Thursday and Friday. These incidents do not represent all calls for service answered by the department during that time.


On June 2nd, 2022, The Cumberland City Police arrested Dylan Ty Gregory, 20, of Cumberland MD. Gregory was arrested on an outstanding Bench Warrant issued by the Allegany County Circuit Court. The Warrant was issued as a result of a Grand Jury Indictment on September 23rd, 2021, charging Gregory with Possession and Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. Gregory was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center where he is currently being held without bond.

On June 2nd, 2022, The Cumberland City Police responded to Queen City Pavement for the report of an assault. Upon arrival, contact was made with a male victim. The victim advised he had just been in an argument with a male suspect over a money dispute. During the dispute, the suspect struck the victim in the back with a brick. Officers were able to locate the subject in the nearby area and place him in custody. The suspect was identified as Samad Jabri Waller, 35, of Cumberland MD. Waller was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held on $2000 bond.

On June 2nd, 2022, The Cumberland City Police responded to a business in the 100 block of Baltimore St for the report of a possible breaking and entering. Upon arrival, contact was made with a representative of the property owner who advised they heard someone inside the building. A search of the property was conducted by officers and a subject was located inside. The subject was identified as Robert Glenn Smith, 27, of Petersburg WV. It was learned that Smith was known to the owner but did not have permission to be on the property. As a result, Smith was placed under arrest for trespassing. During the arrest, Smith was also found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected methamphetamines. Smith was issued criminal citations for trespassing and possession of CDS and released, pending trial in District Court.
