Fight Escalates into Stabbing in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – A fight that broke out Friday in the area of Florida Avenue and Atlantic Avenue ended with a 23-year-old man being stabbed multiple times, according to police.

The Atlantic City Police Department reported, “At 5:35 AM, police dispatch received a 911 call regarding a fight in the area of Florida and Atlantic Avenues. The caller also stated that a man was possibly stabbed. Officer Thomas Gilardi arrived on scene to find a male victim, 23, suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was treated on scene by EMS and then transported by ambulance to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for treatment of life-threatening injuries.”

Police said an investigation revealed the suspect fled the scene in a gray colored sedan that was possibly traveling to Pleasantville.


“ACPD Police dispatch relayed that information to the Pleasantville Police department. Approximately thirty minutes later, patrol officers from the Pleasantville Police Department located the vehicle in Pleasantville. Two male suspects, Luis Sanchez and Wilkin Jimenez, were subsequently detained,” ACPD said. “The ensuing investigation led to the identification of Sanchez as the suspect that stabbed the victim. Sanchez was taken into custody without incident. Jimenez was determined to be involved in the initial fight and was also taken into custody without incident.”
