UTICA, NY – A man exiting a store at the Mohawk Street Plaza was robbed at gunpoint Thursday afternoon, Utica Police report.

Police said upon their arrival they were met by a victim who stated that he just purchased some items at store in the plaza and as he was walking home a male approached him, brandished a knife, and demanded the items.

“As the male was afraid for his safety, he gave the male the items, and the male then rode from the scene on a bicycle,” police said. “After being provided a description of the suspect, an officer with the Patrol Division located the suspect several blocks away and detained him without incident. Additionally, the suspect was still in possession of the stolen property.”

Upon receiving positive confirmation that the party stopped was in fact the suspect, he was transported to the Utica Police Department. Once there a member of the Criminal Investigations Division charged Daniel Johnson age 26 of Utica with robbery in the second degree.
