Armed Robbery at Newark Shell Station

NEWARK, DE- The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that took place in a Newark gas station on Saturday morning.

At 4:08 AM, the suspect entered the Shell gas station at 1148 Christiana Road in Newark. He first confronted the attendant at the sales counter, where he flashed a handgun, gave the employee a bag, and demanded money.

“The employee was unable to open the register, so the suspect struck him in the face with the handgun,” according to detectives. “The suspect then removed an undisclosed number of cigarettes and fled the area on foot towards the rear of the business. The employee was transported to an area hospital for a laceration to the face”.

The suspect is described to be a black male, about 30 years old, 6’3”-6’5” tall, 225 pounds, wearing all dark clothing, a mask, and in possession of a handgun.
