Two Charged for South Street Mass Shooting in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Last weekend, 11 people were shot and three killed in a relatively unreported mass shooting in the city of Philadelphia. The incident happened on June 4th, in the popular South Street area of Philadelphia, when multiple gunmen fired shots into a crowd.

Two of those men were arrested and charged, and one more is still at large as a wanted fugitive.

“The District Attorney’s Office has approved an arrest warrant for the murder of one of the two innocent bystanders killed during the South Street mass shooting on Saturday night. We will not be releasing identifying information until such time as that individual is brought into custody by law enforcement. This highly complex investigation is a close collaboration among the Philadelphia Police, ATF, DAO, and other law enforcement agencies. We continue to make good progress – thanks in no small part to residents and local business owners who have provided tips, video, and other key information to investigators – and are hopeful that we will have a legal and factual basis to issue an arrest warrant for the second homicide in the next several days.”

The following defendants have been arrested and charged to date for their roles in this mass shooting:

Quran Garner (DOB: 8/29/2003) has been charged with four counts of Aggravated Assault, two counts of Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer, one count of VUFA 6106 and VUFA 6108, and related offenses.

Rashaan Vereen (DOB: 12/05/1987) has been charged with Attempted Murder, Conspiracy, Aggravated Assault, Obstructing Administration of Law, Tampering with Evidence, and related offenses.
