HAVERSTRAW, NY – This weekend, the village of Haverstraw celebrated the 114th Annual Memorial Service of the Haverstraw Fire Department.
Local officials, police, firefighters, and members of community civic organizations marched along to remember the sacrifices made by volunteer firefighters over the past century.
“District Attorney Tom Walsh had the privilege of marching in the Haverstraw Fireman’s Memorial Parade. A little rain didn’t stop Haverstraw’s bravest from remembering their fallen members,” The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office said. “The guest speaker was North Rockland Central School District Superintendent Kris Felicello, who spoke about the dedication and sacrifice of our volunteer firefighters. All in Rockland should take a moment to remember the sacrifice of our volunteer firefighters that protect our lives and property.”
The Haverstraw Fire Department has been serving the people of the Village of Haverstraw since 1854. The Department has five constituent Companies : Rescue Hook and Ladder Co.1 , Volunteer Hose Company #2, Relief Hose Co. No. 3, Cosgriff Hose Company No.4 and Lady Warren Hose Company #5.
