Cumberland Police Crime Report: June 14, 2022

CUMBERLAND, MD – The Cumberland Police Department has reported the following incidents involving police response on June 14th.

Warrant Arrest

The Cumberland Police served two Arrest Warrants on Marquise Laniell Carpenter, age 28, of Cumberland, MD. A District Court Warrant charged Carpenter with Fail to Appear for traffic charges. A Circuit Court Warrant was also served on Carpenter charging him with Violation of Probation. He was taken to Central Booking for his initial appearance with the District Court Commissioner and was held without bond on the Circuit Court Warrant and $2,000 on the District Court Warrant.

Trespassing/Disorderly Conduct Arrest

The Cumberland Police were called to Constitution Park for a subject that was causing a disturbance. Devonte Lamarr Rhodes, age 29 of Auburn, NY was served with a No Trespassing Order, barring him from the property. At that time he was advised to leave the Park or be subject to arrest. A short time later the police were called back due to Rhodes being back on the property. When the Police arrived, Rhodes began to cause a disturbance, yelling at Police. A large crowd had gathered due to his behavior. Rhodes was advised that he was under arrest, however he refused to place his hands behind his back and resisted arrest. After a brief struggle he was handcuffed and placed under arrest. He was taken to Central Booking for his initial appearance with the District Court Commissioner. He was charged with Trespassing, Disorderly Conduct, Fail to Obey a Lawful Order, and Resisting Arrest. He was released on his own recognizance following his hearing.

Violation of Court Order Arrest

The Cumberland Police were called to a residence on King St for a report of a Violation of a Court Order. Once on scene, officers contacted Allen Jerome O’Brien, age 29 of Capital Heights, MD. It was learned that O’Brien was the respondent for for Protection from Abuse Order that was issued in Pennsylvania. O’Brien was found to be in violation of this Order and was placed under arrest. He was taken to Central Booking for his initial appearance with the District Court Commissioner and was held on $2,500 bond.
