New Jersey Postal Worker Charged with Insurance Fraud

JERSEY CITY, NJ – A North Jersey postal worker has been arrested for submitting bogus medical claims to his insurance company, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office reported.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said today, a mail sorter employed by the United States Postal Service was arrested by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Insurance Fraud Unit for submitting fraudulent medical claims to his insurance company.

Gerald Hunter, 32, of Jersey City, is charged with one count of insurance fraud.


“He was arrested without incident at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 and released on a summons pending his first court appearance on Tuesday, June 21, 2022. The investigation determined on two separate occasions in 2021, Hunter submitted falsified medical records for reimbursement to AFLAC insurance,” the prosecutor’s office reported.
