BETHLEHEM, PA – A victim’s wallet magically disappeared while shopping at Walmart on Nazareth Pike last week, and now, police are searching for a suspect who was captured on surveillance video.

According to police, on June 11, around 9 pm, the depicted male stole a wallet at Walmart, 3926 Nazareth Pike. The male was with two women, and all three left in a red vehicle.

It turns out the wallet was never actually stolen, and the woman failed to report the recovery of the wallet to the police.

If anyone has any tips to help identify this male, please contact Ptl. Smith at 610.419.4419 or tsmith@bethlehemtwp.com

Later, police said the suspect personally returned the wallet to the woman.

“Earlier this morning, we posted about a male who stole a wallet at Walmart. The complainant never reported back to us that the male returned the wallet to her personally two days later. We appreciate him reaching out after our post to us to let us know,” the department said.

The police department did not issue an apology to the man wrongly accused on social media of stealing a wallet.

“We’ll always suggest that if you find a wallet – get us involved. We’re always available. Non-Emergency: 610-759-2200,” the department said.
