GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ – Galloway Township, like many other rural communities across New Jersey is being targeted by people looking to steal items and money from unlocked cars. In some cases, the cars themselves are even stolen.

This week alone, 5 cars were burglarized in one day, and now police think they may have at least two of the suspects in custody.

The arrest was made through diligent residents and a quick response by the Galloway Police Department.

On June 15, at 10:12 am, Galloway Township Officers located Sean Torres and Johana Mendoza inside of an SUV believed to be used while committing these crimes.

“During a search of the vehicle, stolen items were located, which further linked them to numerous vehicle burglaries in the area. Additionally, the vehicle they were using was stolen. It had been entered and stolen as a result of the vehicle being left unlocked, with the key fob inside,” police said.

Sean Torres, 36, of Galloway was charged with Possession of stolen property, Resisting arrest, Obstruction of Justice. Johana Campos-Mendoza, 28, of Atlantic City was charged with Possession of stolen property.

“Additional charges on both subjects are pending the outcome of an on-going investigation by the Galloway Twp. Police Department Criminal Investigation Division,” the department said.
