Cumberland Crime Report: June 18-20, 2022

CUMBERLAND, MD – The Cumberland Police Department has issued the following police-related incidents that were responded to by officers between June 18-20. These incidents represent only a portion of calls during that time.

Warrant Arrest

The Cumberland Police served a Circuit Court Arrest Warrant on Breann Carol Haines, age 30, of Flintstone, MD. The Warrant charged Haines with Violation of Probation. She is currently being held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.

Criminal Summons

The Cumberland Police served a Criminal Summons on Adam Lee Shipway, age 43, of Cumberland, MD. The Summons charged Shipway with Theft $1,500 to less than $25,000. He is currently awaiting trial in the matter.


The Cumberland Police served a Criminal Summons on Brandon Marshall Ridgeley, age 40, of Cumberland, MD. The Summons charged Ridgeley with First Degree Burglary, 4th Degree Burglary, Destruction of Property, and Theft Less than $1,000. He is currently awaiting trial in the matter.


Motor Vehicle Crash

The Cumberland Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on George St. Two vehicles collided as a result of the at fault vehicle failing to yield the right of way. One motorist was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Disorderly Conduct Arrest

An Officer with the Cumberland Police Department was on patrol when he observed a disturbance at a downtown business. The Officer stopped to intervene when a male, identified as Bryan Brotemarkle, age 30 of Ridgeley, WV continued the disturbance and attempted to assault another male. Brotemarkle was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Station. He was issued a Criminal Citation for Disorderly Conduct and released.

Criminal Summons

The Cumberland Police served a Criminal Summons on Ethen Cordell Painter, age 24 of Cumberland, MD. The Summons charged Painter with two counts of Malicious Destruction of Property and two counts of Willful Motor Vehicle Damaging/Tampering. The charges were the result of an investigation on May 22nd, 2022 where two vehicles were damaged in the 1000 block of Bedford St. After viewing video footage of the incident, Painter was identified as the suspect. The Officer applied for charges and a Summons was issued. He was released pending trial.

The Cumberland Police served a Criminal Summons on Thomas William Iman III, age 35, of Cumberland, MD. The Summons charged Iman with Contributing to Conditions of a Child due to an investigation from May 16th, 2022. He was released pending trial.

CDS Arrest

The Cumberland Police responded to the area of the Canal Shops for a report of two subjects possibly using CDS. Upon arrival, officers contacted Cody Michael Horwath, age 33, of Cumberland, MD. Horwath had an outstanding Arrest Warrant for Fail to Appear for an original assault charge. Horwath was placed under arrest. Once in custody, Horwath was found to be in possession of CDS. He was charged additionally with two counts of Possession of CDS-Not Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. He was taken to Central Booking for his initial appearance before the District Court Commissioner and was released on his own recognizance.
