Police Seeking Witnesses in Fatal Hit and Run in Suitland This Weekend

SUITLAND, MD – Police are asking witnesses who may have information about a fatal hit and run crash that occurred late Saturday night in Suitland.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit would like to speak to anyone who witnessed or has information on a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run that occurred Saturday night in Suitland. The deceased pedestrian is 33-year-old Carlos Maltez, Jr. of Suitland.  

“On June 18, 2022, at approximately 11:50 pm, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Silver Hill Road and Suitland Parkway for the report of a collision involving a pedestrian. Once on scene, they discovered Maltez unresponsive in the roadway. He was pronounced dead on the scene.,” the department said. “The preliminary investigation reveals Maltez was crossing the street when he was stuck by an unknown vehicle traveling southbound on Silver Hill Road. The driver of the striking vehicle did not remain on the scene.”


Based on evidence at the scene, the involved vehicle sustained front-end damage and would be missing its driver’s side mirror. The vehicle may be gray in color. Investigators believe the striking vehicle could be a 2013-2018 Nissan Altima (Dark Gray/ Gun Metallic) similar to the photo below.
