Democrats Backpeddling on 2020 Defund the Police Stance, Calling for Bail on Gun Charges

Robert Walker

TRENTON, NJ – Trenton Democrats are continuing to backpedal on the summer of 2020 stance as the party for police reform facing almost certain devastation in the upcoming 2022 Congressional midterm election in November.

Now, as crime spikes out of control nationwide, Democrats in New Jersey are trying to wish their past pro-criminal and anti-cop policies away.

A bill introduced by Democrats Joe Cryan (D-Union) and Shirley Turner passed in the New Jersey Senate 36-0. That bill would allow judges to keep criminals charged with firearms offenses locked up in jail until their trial. Currently, under New Jersey’s failed bail reform laws, those criminals could be set free within hours of being arrested.
