Westfield Police Blotter, Here’s What’s Happening

WESTFIELD, NJ – Police in Westfield have reported the following incidents that required police response in the community. According to the department, the information provided does not represent the total scope of police activity. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On June 12th, Westfield Department of Public Works personnel reported criminal mischief to Town of Westfield property. Buildings, sheds and bleachers located within Tamaques Park grounds were spray painted with various forms of graffiti causing an unknown monetary amount of damage.

On June 13th, a resident of the 100 block of West Dudley Avenue reports that an unknown male wearing dark clothing appeared from his neighbor’s driveway and ran to a white sedan before fleeing the area. Subsequent police investigation revealed that the suspect attempted a motor vehicle theft on the vehicle that was parked in the driveway. No proceeds were found to have been taken at this time.


On June 13th, a resident from the 100 block of West Dudley Avenue was the victim of attempted motor vehicle burglary. The victim provided video footage which showed the suspect vehicle, a white BMW, drive up her driveway. Shortly after, a male suspect approached the victim’s vehicle and attempted to enter the front driver side door which was locked. The suspect was wearing a gray jacket with a black ski mask, black jeans, and white sneakers. After the unsuccessful attempt, he returns to suspect vehicle and drives away.

On June 15th, a victim reported they were assaulted by a person they know. The actor was identified. At this time there is no arrest. The victim suffered minor injuries.

On June 17th, a Westfield resident reported the theft of a black and blue TREK-820 bicycle from the 100 block of Central Ave on June 17, 2022 between the hours of 1700-1800 hours.

On June 17th, a resident of the 500 block of Cumberland Street reported a suspect standing at the rear of her door wearing glasses and a surgical mask with no other description. The suspect then left the area. Westfield Police units arrived on scene and were unable to locate the individual.

On Saturday, June 18, two suspects committed a theft from a business in the 100 block of East Broad Street when they exited the business without paying for services rendered in the amount of $19.73. The suspects are described as two Hispanic males; possibly 17-20 years of age. One suspect was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with black shorts and the other suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, shorts and a Yankees hat. The suspects fled the business on foot into the central business district.
