FAR HILLS BOROUGH, N.J. – The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office has announced the arrest of a Far Hills man on multiple counts of child pornography.
Jason O’Hare, 33, was arrested as part of the New Jersey Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigation.
Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit were notified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) of an apparent upload of images of sexual exploitation or abuse of a child. An investigation was thereafter initiated by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit. The investigation revealed that Jason O’Hare was suspected of uploading numerous sexually explicit images of children under the age of 18.
“Prosecutor Taggart stated that on May 25, 2022, at approximately 7:00 am, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office detectives, along with members of the Far Hills Police Department, executed a Superior Court ordered search warrant at O’Hare’s residence,” the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office reported. “As a result of the search, O’Hare’s electronic devices were seized for further computer forensic examination. An initial forensic examination of these devices revealed numerous images depicting the sexual exploitation or abuse of a child.”
Prosecutor Taggart stated that as a result of this investigation, on May 25, 2022 O’Hare was arrested without incident at his residence and he was charged with 2nd degree Distribution of Child Pornography and 3rd Degree, Possession of Child Pornography. Defendant O’Hare was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing and subsequently released.
