PITTSVILLE, MD – An armed robbery in Pittsville took place Wedensday morning when two boys, ages 15 and 13 entered the Shore Stop in Pittsville brandishing an AK-47 and an AR-15 assault rifle. At around 4:50 am, Maryland State Police responded to the store, but the two teenagers had already fled in a white car, which police later learned was stolen.

They were later spotted at the Royal Farms on Watson Switch Road, but police said shortly after entering the store, the two boys exited without incident.

Police on patrol near Royal Farms located the vehicle from the earlier alert and began to pursue the vehicle. Police were able to end the pursuit on Route 13 near Gordy Road in Salsbury after deploying stop sticks.

At that point, the two boys exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but were captured quickly by police.

The 15-year-old driver and 13-year-old passenger were unharmed, but are now facing multiple charges. Police recovered two guns from the vehicle, which turned out to be lifelike replica toy guns. They have been charged with armed robbery, robbery, first and second-degree assault, theft of a vehicle, malicious destruction of property and multiple traffic violations.

Police said the vehicle used was taken from a relative without their permission or knowledge.
