U.S. Marshals Task Force Arrest Dyer County Suspect inHenderson County Vehicular Homicide on Interstate-40

Jackson, TN – U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller announces the arrest
of Marlon Tipton, 46, of Dyersburg, Tenn., on charges of Vehicular
Homicide related to an April 10, 2022, crash in Henderson County, Tenn.On June 3, 2022, the Henderson County Circuit Court Clerk issued a
capias for the arrest of Marlon Tipton, pursuant to a Grand Jury
indictment for Vehicular Homicide and Speeding. This crash occurred in
the early morning hours of April 10th in the Parker’s Crossroad area of
Interstate-40 in Henderson County and resulted in the death of
34-year-old Maria Morales Ortega, who was a passenger in the vehicle
allegedly struck by Tipton. The incident was investigated by the
Tennessee Highway Patrol.On June 27, the U.S. Marshals Two
Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force adopted the fugitive case at the
request of the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Marshals subsequently arrested
Tipton in downtown Jackson on June 29. Tipton is currently being held
without bond and awaiting arraignment at the Henderson County Jail. The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a
multi-agency Task Force in the Western District of Tennessee. The TRVFTF
has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily
composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies,
Memphis Police Officers, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson
Police Officers, and the Tennessee Department of Correction Special
Agents from the Apprehension and Enforcement Unit. The primary mission
of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
