Two Kentucky State Troopers, K-9 Killed, Four Others Shot

ALLEN CITY, Ky. – It was a horrific night for the state of Kentucky after two police officers were shot and killed, two others injured, and a police K-9 murdered by a suspect in Floyd County.

According to the Kentucky State Police (KSP) Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) the agency continues to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at approximately 6:44 p.m. EST in Floyd County.

“The preliminary investigation by KSP has determined two law enforcement officers and one K-9 have been pronounced deceased after sustaining injuries from last night’s officer-involved shooting,” police said. “Four other law enforcement officers have received injuries; three of which remain in the hospital. One of the officers is in critical condition, two officers are in stable condition and one officer was treated and released. Additionally, one civilian was injured during the incident and is receiving medical care at a hospital.”

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
