Those Aren’t Fireworks! Man Arrested for Firing Gun Into Air on Fourth of July

GLEN BURNIE, MD – A West Virginia man was charged after discharging a gun into the air in Glen Burnie on the Fourth of July. Police said Corey Lang Badgett, 37, of Fort Ashby, West Virginia was arrested and charged after police investigated a shots fired call on Monday.

On Monday, at approximately 2:30 a.m. officers responded to a report of suspicious activity in the 400 block of Music Lane in Linthicum.

“A responding officer located a male and female matching the description provided by the caller. The female told the officer that the male was armed and that he had fired the weapon in the air,” police said, “The officer determined the male had an open arrest warrant and took him into custody. Officers located a .22 caliber Ruger revolver containing three live rounds and three spent shell casings on the ground near the male. No injuries or property damage were reported.”

A citizen reported hearing two loud bangs earlier but believed they were caused by fireworks. The male was arrested and charged.
