One Killed in Ellicott City Car Crash, Fire

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – One person was killed after their vehicle struck a pole in Ellicott City yesterday morning.

According to police at approximately 4:42 a.m., a 2022 Nissan Rouge was traveling north on Route 29 at the ramp to I-70 east when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a sign support pole.

“The vehicle caught fire and the driver and sole occupant, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police will identify the victim when next of kin have been notified,” police said.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. A portion of the ramp to I-70 east was closed for approximately four hours.
