Suspect Arrested in Weekend Baltimore Shooting

BALTIMORE, MD – Baltimore police have announced the arrest of 53-year-old James Donald Wilkes of for a shooting that took place last Friday on North Eutaw Street. That shooting took place in plain sight of an off-duty Baltimore police officer.

Wilkes is being charged with first-degree attempted murder.

According to police, at approximately 6:45 p.m., an off-duty BPD officer was driving in the area of the 600 block of North Eutaw Street when the officer observed a suspect shoot at a victim.


“The officer called for assistance and gave chase, and the suspect was apprehended a short time later by Central district patrol officers without incident,” police said. “Central district officers located a 52-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the leg in the 600 block of Eutaw Street. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”
