Newark Perps Steal Victim’s Sneakers at Gunpoint

NEWARK, NJ – Police in Newark are searching for a vehicle used by two men who robbed another individual of their sneakers at gunpoint on Saturday.

According to police, at approximately 10 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Hawthorne Avenue on a call of a robbery. Two male suspects stole two pairs of sneakers from a victim at gunpoint and fled in a silver 2008 Hyundai Elantra.

Now, interim Newark Public Safety Director Raul Malave seeks the public’s help in locating the vehicle used by the armed robbers to flee the scene.


Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help in quickly locating the suspect vehicle as part of their investigation.

Director Malave urges anyone with information about the whereabouts of this vehicle to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
