TOMS RIVER, NJ – The girls of the Toms River Little League Softball All-Stars have defeated perennial powerhouse Robbinsville Little League to win the 2022 Section 3 Little League championship.

For more than a decade, Robbinsville has dominated the region with multiple trips to the Little League Softball World Series and multiple victories.

This year, they were unseated by Toms River Little League, a new player in the game who defeated perennial District 18 champion Holbrook Little League of Jackson in their first two years in business.

Beating Robbinsville once is usually a tough task, but Toms River did it twice. Manager Jim Cino watched as his girls defeated Robbinsville, who were favorites coming into the double-elimination championship game by a 1-0 score.

After fighting off elimination, Toms River came back and did it again on Monday, beating Robbinsville 2-1 in the winner takes all game.

Toms River will now head to the state championship series in Bordentown which begins on Thursday.
