Seaside Park Attempted Murder Suspect to Remain in Jail Until Trial, Judge Orders

TOMS RIVER, NJ – While the revolving door of bail reform swings quickly in New Jersey, for Porifirio Serrano-Cruz, it will remain shut for now.

Cruz is in jail pending an attempted murder charge for a stabbing he committed in Seaside Park on June 30th. The 38-year-old Seaside Heights resident was ordered to remain in jail by Judge Michael T. Collin on Tuesday.

Porfirio Serran-Cruz, 38, was charged with attempted murder after stabbing a 39-year-old man inside a residence on O Street. He is also facing charges of possession of an unlawful weapon, burglary and possession of Clonazepam without a valid prescription.

According to police, on that Thursday, at approximately 5:15 a.m., the Seaside Park Police Department responded to a residence on O Street in response to a 911 call, where the caller stated that someone had broken into his residence and tried to kill him. 


“Responding Officers found a thirty-nine year-old, male victim with multiple stab wounds to the arms, chest, abdomen, and groin.  The victim was air-lifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment of his injuries,” the department reported at the time. “He is currently listed in critical but stable condition.”
