The third victim, a 17-year-old male from Centreville, was transported by Ocean City EMS to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional. All three victims have since been released from each of the hospitals.”

After more officers arrived on the scene, the suspects ran north on the boardwalk to flee police.

“A 17-year-old juvenile that was involved in the altercation was arrested and charged with affray. Officers were able to determine that the fight on the Boardwalk involved two different groups of males,” police reported. “Detectives were able to utilize the City Watch cameras, social media platforms, and witnesses to assist in their investigation. Detectives conducted a thorough investigation and were ultimately able to identify Baynard.”

Police released a statement of facts in this case:

On June 29, 2022, detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division along with the members of the Maryland State Apprehension Team/U.S. Marshal’s Task Force located Baynard in Queen Anne’s County, Maryland where he was arrested without incident. Baynard was transported from Queen Anne’s County to the Ocean City Police Department where he was charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. These charges were related to the assault of the 18-year-old victim.  Baynard was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and was held without bond.

The detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division continued their investigation and determined Baynard was the sole suspect in the stabbing of the 17-year-old and 21-year-old as well. On July 20, 2022, detectives charged Baynard with two counts of each: attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. Baynard is still incarcerated in the Worcester County Jail at this time.
