Newark Police Searching for Partially Blind, Missing 72-Year-Old Man

NEWARK, NJ (PUBIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT) Police Seek the Public’s Help Locating Missing, Partially Blind 72-Year-Old Newark Man with Diabetes

Interim Newark Public Safety Director Raul Malave seeks the public’s help in locating Juan Lopez, 72, of Newark, who was reported missing today.

Mr. Lopez, who is partially blind and suffers from diabetes and high blood pressure, was last seen on Monday, July 25, 2022 in the 800 block of South 11th Street. He spoke to a family member at 9 a.m., on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, stating that he was getting on the No. 13 bus and going to 285 North Broad Street in Elizabeth NJ.


Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help in quickly locating Mr. Lopez, who also goes by the name “Papito.” He is described as 5’4” tall and 140 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes. He is known to wear a black cap, black glasses, dark green pants, a white shirt with stripes, and black shoes.

Interim Director Malave urges anyone with information about the whereabouts of Juan Lopez to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
