Suspect in Custody for July 5th Shooting in Newark

NEWARK, NJ – Newark police have announced the arrest of Khasim Dock, 32, of Irvington for the July5th shooting of a man on 14th Street.

According to police, at approximately 9:45 p.m., officers responded to the 800 block of South 14th Street on a call of a shooting. A male victim arrived at University Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. He is reportedly in stable condition.

“Detectives investigating this incident identified Dock as a suspect in this incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest,” the Newark Police Department reported. “Members of the Newark Police Fugitive Apprehension Team, located Anderson in the 200 block of Springfield Avenue on July 21, 2022. He was arrested without incident and faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.”
