COLUMBIA, MD – A Maryland man was struck and killed by a hit and run driver in Columbia overnight Wednesday into Thursday.

According to a police investigation, detectives have determined the suspect vehicle is likely a 2015-2018 Volkswagen Jetta, unknown color, with damage to the driver side front end. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information.

“The body of Joseph Shawn Deliberts, 32, of Columbia, was found by a passerby in the median of Snowden River Parkway south of Oakland Mills Road this morning just before 6 a.m. Investigators believe Deliberts was skateboarding on the travel portion of the roadway when he was struck,” police said. “At this early stage of the investigation, police have not confirmed what time the incident occurred or what make and model of vehicle may have struck him.”
