TOMS RIVER, NJ – The weekend exodus from the Jersey Shore slowed down to a crawl south of Toms River Sunday afternoon when a two-car collision that included a rollover occurred at around noon.

Police arrived to find multiple vehicles involved with debris scattered all over the road. A blue car was turned upside down during the crash. One person was reportedly entrapped during the crash.

Traffic was slowed for miles south of the crash as those seeking to get a headstart returning home from their shore visit faced several delays.

The incident happened near mile marker 81 in the Garden State Parkway’s northbound lanes.

A second serious crash in Wall further delayed the midday shore rush when a two-car crash occurred around mile marker 96 in Wall Township. In that crash, a vehicle crossed all four lanes of the parkway and crashed into another car.

The driver of a Nissan Maxima was ejected during that crash.

On Friday, at around 7:30 pm, another crash took place in Lacey Township. In that crash, one person died. A Sayreville man died on impact when his vehicle left the road and struck several trees.
