Cumberland Police Blotter: Here’s What Happened

CUMBERLAND, MD – The following incidents were reported today by the Cumberland Police Department. These incidents occurred over the past few days and reported by the department. These incidents do not reflect all calls for service by the Cumberland Police Department.

  • On July 29th, 2022 officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 200 block of Glenn Street for a disturbance. Upon officer’s arrival they contacted Thomas Wiggington, who had been involved in numerous disturbances throughout the day. Officers instructed Wiggington not to enter the business, and Wiggington then entered the business and began creating another disturbance. Wiggington was placed under arrest and later taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was released on his own recognizance.

  • On July 29th, 2022 officers of the Cumberland Police Department served an Arrest Warrant on Cody Horwath. The Arrest Warrant was issued by the District Court when he failed to appear for his trial. Horwath was placed under arrest and taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was released on an unsecured $1,000 bond.

  • On July 29th, 2022 officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 200 block of Franklin Street for a reported theft complaint. It was learned that Jaclyn Riley had taken items from the business without paying for them. Officers located Riley, recovered the stolen property, issued her a Criminal Citation for theft. She was then released pending her trial at District Court.

  • On July 30th, 2022 officers of the Cumberland Police Department served an Arrest Warrant on Karian Sharay Emerson. The Arrest Warrant was issued by the District Court when she failed to appear for her trial on April 25th, 2022. Emerson was taken before a District Court Commissioner where she was released on a $1,500 unsecured bond.

  • On July 31st, 2022 an officer of the Cumberland Police Department conducted patrols in the area of Pershing Street when they observed a Crystal Grady to be actively tampering with a motor vehicle. The officer advised her that she was under arrest and Grady then began to yell and scream in the street. The officer attempted to place her under arrest and she then began to assault, and attempt to break away from the officer. Grady was taken into custody and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center awaiting her initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.

  • On July 31st, 2022 officers of the Cumberland Police Department served Criminal Summons on Jonathan Alan Chesnutt. The Criminal Summons was issued by the District Court Stemming from a July 30th, 2022 incident in which Chesnutt had assaulted an officer. Chesnutt signed for his Criminal Summons and awaits his trial at District Court.
