Columbus Division Investigating Murder of 18-Year-Old Ayanta Jarmon

COLUMBUS, OH – 18-year-old Ayanta Jarmon had just graduated high school this year and on Friday night, she was shot and killed while attending a neighborhood party. Now, police in Columbus are asking the public to help them identify her killer.

“Investigators are requesting assistance from the party goers that were at this location. We are requesting that anyone that was at the party that took any photos or videos contact the Lead Investigator,” the department said on Wednesday. “The suspect(s) may have inadvertently been photographed and or on a video from that evening. The public assistance with collecting this valuable information would be greatly appreciated.”

According to the initial police report, on Friday, at 11:35 pm, Columbus police officers responded to the 2700 Block of Fairwood Ave on a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located Ms. Jarmon unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound.


“Ms. Jarmon was transported to a local area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at 4:12 am,” police said.

Another victim, a 16-year-old boy was transported with a gunshot wound. He is expected to recover from his injuries.

“At this time, Investigators believe that unknown suspect(s) shot into the crowd of people that were at the Fairwood Ave location for a party,” police said.

This incident is still under investigation.
