LAKEWOOD, NJ – A serious motor vehicle accident occurred at around 5 pm on Wednesday on Route 88 in Lakewood. Multiple people required extrication from their vehicles in the three-car wreckage after the crash.

One patient was airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center and the rest of the injured victims were rushed to the hospital by ambulance.

The crash occurred when one vehicle allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the intersection of Route 88 and Holly Street. The collision sent one car crashing into a telephone pole.


The vehicle entered the intersection at a high rate of speed, crashing into two other vehicles in the intersection.

The road was closed while police investigated the crash.
