Newark Police Seeking to Identify Porch Pirate Package Thieves

NEWARK, NJ – Police are investigating the theft of packages from an apartment building lobby in Newark.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé, the department requests the public’s help with identifying the below-pictured suspects, who took packages from the lobby of two buildings in two days.

“Police responded to a call about a burglary that occurred at approximately 12:10 p.m. on August 2, 2022 in the 100 block of Lafayette Street. The suspects were captured on surveillance entering the building and taking several packages from the lobby,” police said.


According to a police report, on August 3, officers responded to a call about a theft that occurred at approximately 3:09 a.m. in the 100 block of Bruen Street. The suspects were again captured on surveillance video entering the building and removing several packages from the lobby.

Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the suspects to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
