South River Police Blotter: Here’s What Happened

SOUTH RIVER, NJ – On Friday, the South River Police Department issued the following police blotter incident reports of events that unfolded between June 27th and July 3rd.

“Our weekly police blotter highlights noteworthy incidents that occur on a day to day basis in order to keep our community informed,” police said. “Please keep in mind that, in the case of any ongoing investigation, we are not able to release certain details and information. In the case of major incidents or investigations, press releases are typically issued at a later date.”

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT, Prospect Street on 6/27 @ 2203 hours – Patrol units and EMS responded to a motor vehicle accident in which a utility pole was struck. One individual was treated for minor injuries.


BRUSH FIRE, Main Street on 6/30 @ 0837 hours – Patrol units and South River Fire Department responded to a brush fire in the parking lot of a business. The fire was subsequently extinguished.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT & DUI, Prentice Avenue on 7/3 @ 1649 hours – Patrol units responded to a motor vehicle accident involving 4 vehicles. One individual was treated for minor injuries. A male was subsequently charged with driving under the influence and other motor vehicle infractions. Ptl. David Rader was the arresting officer.

BRUSH FIRE, Old Bridge Turnpike on 7/3 @ 2136 hours – Patrol units and South River Fire Department responded to a report of a brush fire outside of a residence. The fire was subsequently extinguished.

STRUCTURE FIRE, Southside Avenue on 7/3 @ 2316 hours – Patrol units and South River Fire Department responded a report of a shed fire at a residence. The fire was subsequently extinguished. The cause was determined to be accidental.
