Police Say Family of Teen Shot Monday in Miami-Dade County Not Cooperating With Investigation

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL – Police in Miami-Dade County have reported that family members of a 16-year-old boy shot early Monday morning on 171st Street are not cooperating with their investigation.

At around 1:07 am, police responded to the location after a ShotSpotter alert notified the department of gunfire in the area.

Detective Angel Rodriguez, a spokesperson for the department said by the time police arrived, the teen had already been transported to Jackson South Medical Center by relatives. He is listed in critical condition.


Police said they have attempted to speak to those relatives, but Rodriguez said none are willing to cooperate.

No suspects have been identified and no motive has been declared in the incident.
