‘The Raid Unifies Republicans’: Banks Describes Meeting ‘Fired Up’ Trump With House GOP

Republican Rep. Jim Banks of Indiana said the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Monday raid on Mar-a-Lago unified Republicans in the House of Representatives during a Tuesday-night appearance on Fox News.

“I have never seen President Trump as fired up as what he was tonight,” Banks, the chairman of the Republican Study Committee who was excluded from the Jan. 6 committee by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, told host Laura Ingraham.

“He is not deterred, he’s not fazed at all by what the DOJ has done to him, an unprecedented move of raiding the home of a former president and not at all explaining to the American people about why they did it,” Banks said.

The FBI raid reportedly centered around classified documents that allegedly were taken from the White House when former President Donald Trump left office in January 2021.

“There were a dozen of us that visited President Trump tonight, we wanted to go and tell President Trump we stand with him,” Banks said. “And when Kevin McCarthy is Speaker of the House, Jim Jordan will be the right man at the right time, the right place as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee to hold the Department of Justice accountable for these actions.”

“House Republicans are unified more than ever before to fight alongside President Trump to save this country,” Banks continued. “Everyone in the room encouraged President Trump to run for president again, and the sooner he gets out and starts campaigning, the better.”

Trump and the Justice Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
