Newark Police Investigating Bike Theft

NEWARK, NJ – Police in Newark are searching for a bike thief who stole a bike from a Jones Street garage on Saturday.

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured male suspect in connection with a bike theft that occurred on Saturday, August 13, 2022.

“The suspect was captured on a surveillance camera, just after 6:15 a.m., removing the victim’s bike from the garage area of 24 Jones Street. The bike is described as an all-black Fuji bike with a cell phone mount, a purple water bottle holder, and crown valve caps,” police reported.


Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help in identifying this suspect as part of their investigation. The suspect is described as a black male who was wearing a brown or gray shirt with large white letters on the bottom and a red shirt underneath. He also wore red pants with white stripes down the side and black sneakers. The suspect was carrying a light gray backpack on his back and a face mask worn under his chin.
